The Peachtree City Fire Department has issued blasting permits for Sept. 15–Oct. 15 for the sewer pump station at the Everton development off MacDuff Parkway and for The Overlook retail development on Line Creek Drive at Highway 54.

Peachtree City Fire Marshal John Dunlap described the blasting process, saying it would occur underground and would be contained by large metal plates.

“No one will be seeing large explosions as a result of these permits,” he said. “While the Everton project is not near any existing homes, The Overlook is next to Cardiff Park, and those residents could experience a mild vibration and low rumble when blasting takes place.”

Dunlap explained that both projects have encountered rock that exists under a good portion of Peachtree City. “Blasting permits were necessary for much of the residential, commercial, and office projects throughout Kedron Village as that part of town developed,” he said.

The blasting in Everton will begin this week, while the blasting at The Overlook is not expected to commence until the week of Sept. 21. Specific blasting times are not advertised for safety reasons.
