Georgia Department of Transportation projects to improve highway infrastructure throughout metro Atlanta continue this weekend, weather permitting. Construction projects on I-75 and I-285 will require lane closures, which, in turn, are likely to result in delays. Motorists are advised to exercise caution by reducing speed while driving through work zones.
The traveling public is encouraged to call 511 or consult 511ga.org before departing for real-time information on work status and traffic conditions.
Planned work this weekend is as follows:
· On SR 316, one westbound lane and one eastbound lane will close from Sugarloaf Parkway to SR 120 continuously from 9 p.m., Friday until 5 a.m., Monday for resurfacing;
· On I-285 northbound, one lane and part of the entrance and exit ramps from SR 260/ Glenwood Road to Chamblee Tucker Road will close nightly from 9 p.m., Friday until 5 a.m., Monday for striping;
· On the southwest side of I-285, two southbound lanes will close from the I-85 interchange to SR 6/ Camp Creek Parkway and one northbound lane will close from SR 6/ Camp Creek Parkway to Cascade Road from 9 p.m., Friday until 5 a.m., Monday;
· On Georgia (State Route) 400, one northbound and one southbound lane will close at Northridge from 9 p.m., Friday until 5 a.m., Monday;
· Two westbound lanes will close on I-20 at SR 139/ Martin Luther King Jr. Drive/ Anderson Avenue from 12 a.m., Saturday, until 2 a.m., Sunday;
· On I-20, two westbound and two eastbound lanes will close from the I-285 interchange to Six Flags Parkway from 9 p.m., Friday, until 5 a.m., Saturday;
· Lastly on I-20, two westbound lanes from Alcovy Road to SR 12/US 278 and the ramp from SR 12/US 278 to I-20 will close continuously from 9 p.m., Friday until 5 a.m., Monday;
· On I-85, three northbound and southbound lanes will close from SR 139/ Riverdale Road to Cleveland Avenue nightly from 9 p.m., Friday until 5 a.m., Monday for striping;
· Rolling closures will take place on the Tom Moreland interchange ramps that connect I-85 and I-285 from 7 a.m., Saturday until 7 p.m., Sunday for striping;
· Sign structure work on I-75 will require two southbound lane closures and one northbound lane closure from the SR 120 Loop / South Marietta Parkway to the SR 120 Loop / North Marietta Parkway from 9 p.m., Friday until 5 a.m., Monday;
· The Express Lanes project will require two lane closures on I-75 northbound and southbound at Wade Green Road from 9 p.m., Friday until 10 a.m., Saturday;
· The Express Lanes project will also require one lane closure on Towne Lake Parkway underneath I-575 from 9 p.m., Friday until 10 a.m., Saturday;
· A flagging operation will take place on Hickory Flat Highway underneath I-575 from 9 p.m., Friday until 10 a.m., Saturday to allow construction vehicles to enter and exit the interstate;
· Work on the Express Lanes will require one I-285 eastbound collector-distributer lane to close from 9 p.m., Friday until 10 a.m., Saturday;
· Lastly, the Express Lanes project will also require part of the bridge from I-285 westbound to I-75 southbound to close from 9 p.m., Friday until 10 a.m., Saturday;
· One lane will close on I-75 southbound from SR 138 to SR 155 from 9 p.m., Friday until 7 a.m., Monday for work on the South Metro Express Lanes;
· On SR 154/ Memorial Drive, one lane will close between Moreland Avenue and Wilkinson Drive and one lane will close on SR 154/ Memorial Drive between East Lake Drive and Candler Road both closures are from 9 a.m., until 3 p.m., Saturday.
