The Southern Crescent Storytellers, in conjunction with Fayetteville VFW Post 3650, National Public Radio, and the Library of Congress, is sponsoring the Story Corps Military Initiative.
Local active duty, retirees, and family members of the U.S. military have an opportunity to tell their personal, historic, military stories which will be recorded by Story Corps-trained volunteers and archived in the Library of Congress and in most local public libraries. Each participant will receive his/her own copy of the recording – a treasured keepsake for all generations.
The Fayette Senior Services facility in Fayetteville will host military story recordings Sept. 22 and 29 as well as Oct. 2. Other locations and dates include Christian City, the Carnegie Library in Newnan, and more throughout the state of Georgia.
