Science labs in Fayette County’s middle and high schools will get an update for the 2015-2016 school year. The school board on June 15 approved up to $100,000 in new lab furniture.

The $91,092 bid from School Outfitters will purchase 1,046 lab stools and 244 lab tables for the county’s middle and high schools.

An upcoming request for the June 29 board meeting will include a number of flexible furniture units that can be used as single desks or assembled in small groupings.

On the science lab needs list for the future are large, collaborative lab tables that can accommodate several students, including significant storage areas and space for lab equipment.
