The Peachtree City Council on June 18 will consider a $130,000 budget amendment and conduct a public hearing on a setback encroachment on a lot at The Gates subdivision.

The meeting will include a budget amendment being proposed to cover expenses related to the contract with Safe Built Georgia, according to Finance Director Paul Salvatore. The contract outlines the services provided and the payment for those services is based on 70 percent of the collected permit fees, Salvatore said.

To date, said Salvatore, revenues and expenses are exceeding the budget. Salvatore is requesting a $130,000 increase in budget revenues and expenses based on prior and current year-to-date activity. At no time will expenses exceed revenues, said Salvatore.

The agenda will include a variance request asking to permit a 5-foot encroachment in the rear setback of a residence in The Gates subdivision.

The request deals with a pergola constructed over a portion of the patio. The pergola was not shown in the approved site plans and extends 5 feet into the 30-foot rear setback.

Planning staff said there are no special or exceptional circumstances at play and they recommend that the variance request be denied.

Also at the meeting, interim City Manager Jon Rorie will give a Facilities Bond update.

Withdrawn from the agenda by the developer was a rezoning application for The Gates dealing a request for front and rear setback reductions on some lots. Senior Planner David Rast said the developer will proceed with Phases 2 and 3 with the building setbacks established with the initial zoning of the property.
