Peachtree City has several key management positions currently vacant. The positions for a planning director and human resources manager should be filled this summer while the City Council will soon decide how to replace outgoing City Manager Jim Pennington.
The key position up for consideration is the replacement for Pennington, who announced his retirement on May 21.
Community Services Division/Public Services Division Director John Rorie has been named to serve an interim capacity beginning June 12.
Pennington after the May 21 meeting said the City Council will put out a request for quotes to a number of executive recruiting firms.
“The council will determine if they go that way,” Pennington said of the process.
Another position needing to be filled is for a planning and development director. That position has been vacant for approximately one year, said the city Human Resources and Risk Management Division Director Ellece Brown.
Brown said the city advertised the position but was not pleased with the applicants that responded, so the position was re-advertised.
“We have candidates we’re considering this time,” Brown said on Monday.
Brown said the goal is to have the successful candidate hired by late July.
The position is included in the budget that expires in September.
Another managerial position currently open is for a human resource manager approved by the City Council on May 7.
Brown said the position is currently being advertised, adding that the goal is to make the hire sometime in July.
The position will be supervised by Brown.
Though not included in the current budget, the position will have an annualized budget impact of $81,800 to $96,500.
