All Saints Anglican Church will host a free concert, open to the public, on Wednesday, June 10, at 7 p.m. Sopranist Chelsea Buyalos and guitarist LeeLee Hunter will be joined by harpist Kelly Abrams and All Saints Director of Music, Shannon Bryan, as they perform classical, sacred and spiritual pieces by composers Franz Schubert, Felix Mendelssohn and Robert Schumann as well as others.
Buyalos, Hunter and Abrams are also participating in the church’s annual music camp being held June 8 through the 12.
Soprano Chelsea Buyalos developed a love for music at the age of four and started her formal training at the age of 11 in Chester, Va. In 2005 she made her operatic debut in Italy with Operafestival di Roma and was also featured in several recital and opera scene programs.
In recent years, Buyalos has also been featured as a soloist in other concert works such as Mozart’s Requiem, Rossini’s Petite messe solennelle, and Rutter’s Requiem.
Along with her classical training she has performed in many musicals such as Annie, The King and I, Guys and Dolls, Oklahoma, and The Boyfriend.
LeeLee Hunter was initially introduced to music in the church choir at the age of four and grew to love it very quickly. She first experienced the guitar while living in Hong Kong and began taking lessons there, continuing her studies when she moved back to the US. She received her bachelor’s degree in 2011 and her master’s degree in 2013 from the Peabody Conservatory under the guidance of Julian Gray.
She later was introduced to the classical guitar and she quickly fell in love with it. In addition to the guitar, Hunter also studied voice and clarinet while in high school and was an active member of her school band and chorus as well as the choir and hand-bell choir at her church.
She has performed in master-classes with Ken Meyer of Syracuse University; Stanley Yates; Lorenzo Micheli and Matteo Mela of the Italian duo Soloduo; Bruce Holzman of Florida State University; and Carlos Perez.
Abrams is a member of All Saints and currently attends Berkeley College of Music. She was raised in Peachtree City and began taking piano lessons at the age of six. At the age of eight, she began learning the harp. After graduating from The Heritage School, Abrams started college at Berklee College of Music in Boston, Mass., where she studies music therapy. She recently performed at Symphony Hall in the Final Fantasy: Distant Worlds concert with the Berklee Contemporary Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Arnie Roth, conductor and member of Mannheim Steamroller. She has also performed at MIT and at the Berklee Performance Center. Abrams was recently accepted into the music therapy program and will start her studies and work in the field this fall.
Bryan is All Saints Director of Music. She holds degrees from Georgia Southern University and the University of Miami, Florida.
