Organizers of the Fayette Youth Film Festival, scheduled for July 31, said that the event “will celebrate and embrace all we admire in our youth’s creativity, individuality, and talent.”

The goal is to showcase young filmmakers with a positive message or unique viewpoint through this year’s theme, “I AM.”

“Through short films made by youth, we aim to educate and inspire our audience,” the organizers said in a statement.

The festival will highlight short films made by youth in animation, live-action, and documentary. Also to be offered are filmmaking workshops, and drop-in activities as well as a chance to interact with industry professionals. Youth will learn about directing, cinematography, screen writing, and the industry at large.

Finalist filmmakers will be eligible for cash prizes, additional screenings, film internships, acting appearances, and more.

The festival is a non-for-profit event, with all proceeds going to fund the I Am Foundation, “an organization aimed at empowering our youth to lead with character,” according to the festival organizers.
