Thomas tapped for $5,000 scholarship

A Fayette County student is among five winners of a 2015 Delta Community Credit Union Scholarship.

Fayette County High School’s Janeen Thomas will receive a $5,000 award from the annual $20,000 program.

She has held many leadership positions in her high school career, including president of the National Honor Society, vice president of the National Beta Club and varsity captain of Fayette County High’s Academic Team.

She is passionate about community service and has volunteered for years with the American Cancer Society, Piedmont Fayette Hospital, and Operation Mobilization, a group that helps mission groups prepare for service abroad.

She volunteers at her church and works at Williamson Eye Care.
