The Fayette County Board of Commissioners will consider a revised master plan for Kenwood Park and the next phase of proposed future improvements at its May 14 regular meeting.

A revision to the master plan was proposed by county staff at the April retreat. The revision includes development of a pavilion/gazebo, a restroom, a parking lot, a tot lot/playground, fitness stations, walking trails, and an open multipurpose field.

The plan was taken before the Recreation Commission, which voted unanimously to recommend adoption by the Board of Commissioners.

Also on the agenda is a continuation of the previous meeting’s discussion regarding the preparation of the minutes after each meeting, along with a comparison of minutes from other Georgia counties to use when considering future action on the issue.

Chairman Charles Oddo moved at the last meeting to table the April 9 minutes and asked the county clerk to provide the previous directive regarding the preparation of the minutes. That was done shortly after the minutes. County staff has requested direction from the board on how to proceed from here on.

The April 9 minutes are up for approval on this agenda along with those from the April 3 retreat.

New business includes a proposed appointment to the Regional Planning Board, a resolution in support of the Whitewater Creek Water Trail, revision of qualifications for Recreation Commission members, and changes to the county’s defined contribution play for employees.

The consent agenda includes changes to the Old Courthouse renovation project, reassigning funds to an information technology project, a staff recommendation to add River Park Phase 1A subdivision to the county’s street light program, a contract for services to recover occupational and business license revenue, and acceptance of a grant for two Animal Control state members to attend a national conference in Cobb County.

The board will issue a proclamation recognizing Hopeful Church’s 190th anniversary.

There are no public hearings or old business scheduled.
