A Riverdale man was arrested by Senoia police officers on April 18 after receiving information of possible credit card fraud. The man had three drivers licenses and 27 credit cards in his possession.

Sorie Barrie, 26, was charged with weaving over the roadway, failure to yield, financial transaction card fraud, forgery and possession of multiple driver’s licenses, according to Lt. Jason Ercole.

Ercole said the arrest came as the result of an ongoing investigation by the Senoia Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division.

“Back on April 9, detectives with the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office in Michigan contacted detectives with the Senoia Police Department and informed them that an unknown person was using an Oakland County residents debit card information to make purchases at the Crooks Hit and Run Convenience store and the Dollar General in Senoia. The transactions occurred back on March 21,” said Ercole.

Ercole said Senoia detectives reviewed video from both Crook’s Hit and Run and the Dollar General. “The video showed a male suspect using the victim’s debit card information to purchase several cartons of cigarettes,” said Ercole. ”Clerks from both Crook’s Hit and Run and the Dollar General stated that the suspect depicted in the video was a frequent customer and always purchased cartons of cigarettes with credit cards. Using still shots taken from the video reviewed by detectives, a “Be On the Look Out” (BOLO) bulletin was provided to patrol officers.”

Ercole said Barrie was observed at Crook’s Hit and Run on the evening of April 18.

“The observant clerk on duty contacted 911,” Ercole said. ”Just as the call was about to be given to patrol officers, Officer Jason Scarbrough had already observed the suspect commit a traffic violation and had him stopped along (Ga. Highway) 16. Once the call from Crook’s Hit and Run was dispatched, Officer Scarbrough realized that he had stopped the suspect in the BOLO.”

A subsequent search of Mr. Barrie and his vehicle revealed three different driver’s licenses along with 27 credit cards bearing different names, Ercole said, adding that Barrie was arrested and transported to the Coweta County Jail.

Barrie is currently being held without bond.
