Peachtree City resident Mary Ray did a good job of picking the right numbers in the Georgia Lottery and came away with a $1 million prize for her efforts.

The 70-year-old hair stylist received her winnings earlier in the week after playing the $10 Million Cash Spectacular instant game that carries a top prize of $1 million.

Ray purchased the ticket at the BP station on Ga. Highway 54 in Peachtree City.

“It’s just a wonderful thing,” said Ray. “The experience has been amazing.”

With her latest windfall, Ray had to look twice after scratching off the ticket.

“I thought, ‘Am I seeing things right,’ ” she questioned.

Ray’s big win was not her first. She won $1,000 in the same instant game just three days before hitting the jackpot.

Since 2001, the lucky winner has claimed nearly $20,000 in Georgia Lottery winnings, according to the Georgia Lottery.

Lottery officials said with two adult children and three grandchildren, Ray intends to purchase a new truck for her son. She also may take a vacation or two for herself.
