Many thanks for helping military families

Dear Fayette County neighbors, once again, you really stepped up to the plate. On behalf of Embracing Military Families, I am absolutely overwhelmed at your continued support for the families of our military heroes.

Each year, I pray our mission will come to an end. And, soon, God willing, there will be no reason for Embracing Military Families. But until then, we make a difference, and all of you deserve major kudos.

Since 2001, we have put smiles on the faces of countless children and helped wounded warriors do what they couldn’t on their own. In past years, I have described what that has meant to these most deserving families. This year, I would like you to hear from one of the counselors, Ginger Ades, at Lloyd Elementary School at Ft. Benning. I think she says it far better than I ever could:

“I am writing to thank you for all the hard work you do and the generosity you show to our military children. Year after year, I continue to be amazed at all of the wonderful toys your organization collects for our children. I am having a difficult time finding the words to express how grateful we are for the work that you do, as it makes such a difference to our students.

“With the help of Embracing Military Families, we have been able to give struggling military families Christmases that they will always remember, provide clothes and shoes to children in need, and ensure that every one of our students receives a toy for Christmas.

“The generous people who give these donations and toys never get to hear the squeals of joy and giggles of excitement when the students come in to see the toys all set up, or see the enormous smiles on the faces of our students when they receive their gifts, but their joy makes “Santa’s Workshop” one of the happiest days of my school year.”

On behalf of all of the children, and the families we serve, thank you from the bottom of my heart. And I would like to offer a special thank you to Brooks United Methodist Church, Massage Envy, Peachtree City School of Dance, all three World Gym locations, Mimi’s Good Food, The Fayette County Republican Headquarters, YKnot Sports and Clothes Less Traveled. You have the heart of all of our littlest warriors.

And to the rest of my Fayette County friends and neighbors who help me year after year, you make this possible; and I am beyond grateful. Thank you.
