Fayette County Teacher of the Year Alex Vlachakis was recently inducted into Kappa Kappa Iota, the nation’s oldest professional organization for teachers.

Vlachakis and colleague Charlene Sibaja, who is currently obtaining a degree in adult education, were inducted by Georgia chapter President Carol A. Lunsford.

The organization provides a network for outstanding educators to share teaching practices and methods.

Lambda State, Georgia’s unit of Kappa Kappa Iota, consists of five individual chapters. The MU chapter is located in Fayette County, and will co-host the 2015 Lambda State Annual Convention in April.
