The Fayette County Public Library invites the public to a book presentation and signing by Sharon Marchisello on Dec. 2 at 7 p.m. Marchisello will talk about “Going Home,” her new suspense novel from Sunbury Press. Copies of the book will be available for sale at the event, with proceeds benefiting both the Friends of the Fayette County Public Library and the Fayette Humane Society. The program is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served, compliments of the Friends of the Fayette County Public Library.
A novel of suspense, “Going Home” gets off to a fast start when Michelle DePalma finds her aging, memory-impaired mother, Lola Hanson, hovering over the bludgeoned body of her caregiver in Lola’s entryway. Lola’s memory loss has recently accelerated, and now she can’t tell anyone what happened to the young woman. Inspired by the author’s mother’s battle with Alzheimer’s, “Going Home” explores the challenge of solving a murder mystery when a potential witness cannot rely on her memory. Written from the perspective of a baby boomer forced to reverse roles with her parents, it crosses into the mainstream genre of women’s fiction and touches on topical issues such as elder abuse and end-of-life decisions.
Sharon Marchisello is the author of “The Ghost on Timber Way,” part of a short story anthology featuring fellow Sisters in Crime members. She has also published a personal finance e-book entitled “Live Cheaply, Be Happy, Grow Wealthy,” as well as numerous travel articles and corporate training manuals. “Going Home” is her first published novel.
