William Homer Cooper, 85, of Fayetteville, passed away peacefully on November 19, 2014.

He was a long-time member of Fayetteville First Baptist Church. He served as a deacon at Morrow First Baptist Church, Harp’s Crossing Baptist Church and Fayetteville First Baptist Church. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge for over 50 years and was active in several civic organizations. Homer retired in 1991 as a Zone Manager after 43 years of service with Ford Motor Company. He enjoyed traveling and flying his airplane.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Russ and Uris (Harrell) Cooper; his sister, Helen Teague; and twin brothers, Jimmy and Jerry Cooper.

He is survived by his wife, Alleta Hanchey Cooper; sons, Mark Cooper of Atlanta and Kevin (Cassie) Bruce of Duluth; daughters, Debbie Piper of Peachtree City and Amanda (Tim) Norris of Kansas City, Mo.; grandchildren, Rachel, Ben, Cole, Caleb, Cush, Arielle, Abby and Chloe; great grandchild, Silas; sister, Carolyn (Hoyt) Pye of Cartersville, Ga., as well as several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2014, at 2 p.m. in the Worship Center at Fayetteville First Baptist Church, 205 E. Stonewall Ave., Fayetteville, Ga., with Rev. Glenn Stringham, Dr. Jim Thomas and Dr. Bill Lacey officiating. He will lie in state from 1-2 p.m. There will be a private family burial. The family received friends on Friday evening, November 21, 2014, from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. at Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home, Fayetteville.
