A Jonesboro motorcyclist was killed Saturday night when his vehicle was struck by a passenger car at the intersection of Ga. Highway 54 and Flat Creek Trail, according to Fayette County Sheriff Barry Babb.

Alex Strickland, 37, died after his motorcycle struck the driver’s side of a 2001 Toyota Corolla at 10:30 p.m., Babb said. The Corolla driver, identified as Zahra Rupani of Fayetteville, was not injured.

Strickland was driving west on the highway when the crash occurred, and traffic investigators are still working to “determine all the factors that contributed to the incident,” Babb said.

A final determination is not expected until toxicology tests come back at a later date, officials said. It is standard procedure in fatal auto crashes to conduct such tests of all drivers involved to determine if alcohol or drugs may have played a role in the collision.
