Georgia Singers to perform free concert at F’ville 1st UMC

The Georgia Singers, a community-based choral organization for young women, will present the Requiem Mass by Francesco Brusa on Sunday, May 18, at 7 p.m. at Fayetteville First United Methodist Church.

Written in 1767 and originally performed in Venice, Italy, by the orphan girls of the Santa Maria della Pieta, a famous music conservatory for young women, this mass will be directed by Dr. Frank Green and accompanied by Rick Massengale and a string orchestra. In addition to the mass, the Georgia Singers will share a variety of songs including folk, pop, jazz, and spirituals. Everyone in the community is invited to attend this free concert.

Begun in Peachtree City in January of 2007, Georgia Singers has grown into two age group choirs. The singers range in age from grade seven through post-college age young women.

The group’s realization of outstanding performances has distinguished them from school organizations and other community choral groups in the southern crescent area.
