DeLane Marketa Groover, 90, passed away on Saturday, April 26, 2014.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Martin and her son, Charles Everett.
She is survived by her sons, Gregory Mark, Kenneth David and his wife, Venus; granddaughters Ashley Groover Houchins of McDonough, Ga. and Nicole Groover Francis of Chicago, Ill. and her grandson, David Gregory Groover of Fort Carson, Col.; great-grandchildren, Grayce and Grant Houchins and Ella and Case Francis.
Dee was born in Bertram, Texas to Earnest and Cynthia Spradlin in 1924. She married Roy during his Air Force career on July 20, 1946 in Travis County, Texas. Dee’s life was devoted to her husband and her three boys. She loved being the wife of an Air Force Officer and caring for her children. They lived in Japan, California and Florida before permanently settling in Georgia. After Roy passed, Dee began her career in Retail Sales working for Rich’s and J.C. Penney. When Dee retired, she purchased her home in Fayetteville and lived there until she moved to Christian City Convalescent Center.
The family will receive friends at C. J. Mowell and Son Funeral Home in Fayetteville, Ga. on Friday, May 2, 2014 between 5 and 7 p.m. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2014 at 12 p.m. at Hollywood Cemetery in Tallapoosa, Ga.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Christian City, 7300 Lester Road, Union City, Ga. 30291.
