Dr. Brian “Doc” Jefferson, 72, of Tyrone, Ga. passed away Sun., Mar. 23, 2014 at Hospice Atlanta.
He was born Aug. 2, 1941 in Wareham, Mass. to the late George Jefferson & Avis Rider Jefferson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, George Raymond Jefferson.
Brian grew up and graduated from high school in Wareham, Mass. His love of sailing and boating began as a young man spending time in the waters off Cape Cod. Brian spent several years serving his country in the Coast Guard.
He received his Masterí’s & Doctorate Degrees in Art from Pennsylvania State University. He was a Fulbright Scholar and an Art Professor at Georgia State University in Atlanta. His love of art, quick wit, and whimsical spirit touched the lives of many of his students.
His love of family and friends was always evident in all his endeavors. Brian was active in the lives of his two daughters, always present for the activities whether serving as president of the PTA or going on Girl Scout Camping Trips. He derived a tremendous amount of joy watching grandsons play soccer.
The memorial service is Wed., Mar. 26, 2014 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of McKoon Funeral Home. The visitation was Tuesday evening at McKoon Funeral Home, 38 Jackson St, Newnan, Ga.

Survivors include wife of 49 years, Judy Pierce Jefferson of Tyrone, Ga; daughters, Rachel Spates & husband Thad of Newnan, Kristin Skelly & husband Greg of Newnan; and grandchildren, Keirnan Skelly, Cooper Morrison, Chelsea Spates.
