3 Coweta BoE seats to be contested

Qualifying for Coweta County’s May 20 primaries and the Nov. 4 general election ended at noon Friday. The only contested races will be found in three seats on the Coweta County Board of Education, the District 132 seat in the Ga. House and the District 28 seat held by state Sen. Mike Crane.

The Coweta County Board of Education has four seats up for election, with three of those contested.

District 1 school board member Amy Dees will face former educator Monica Terrell.

District 3 school board member Harry Mullins will square off against videographer Jane Horne.

And District 4 school board member Graylin Ward will face commercial lender Linda Menk.

District 1 at-large school board member Larry Robertson will face no opposition.

Coweta County commissioners Tim Lassetter (Dist. 2) and Bob Blackburn (Dist. 3) will face no opposition.

At press time Friday, state Rep. Carl von Epps (D-LaGrange) had not qualified for his District 132 seat. Two others did qualify for the seat. Those included Democrat and Luthersville attorney Robert T. “Bob” Trammell, Jr. and self-employed Republican W.E. “Gene” King of Gay.

District 71 Rep. David Stover (R-Newnan), District 72 Rep. Matt Ramsey (R-Peachtree City) and District 70 Rep. Lynn Smith (R-Newnan) faced no opposition at press time Friday.

District 28 Sen. Mike Crane (R-Newnan) will see competition for his senate seat from Newnan Democratic challenger and educator Cynthia Conradt Bennett.

The primary races will be held May 20. The general election will be held Nov. 4.
