My sincere thanks go to John Munford for his recent article about the boil water advisory in The Coventry subdivision.
Sadly, I had to read about this advisory in The Citizen several hours (and multiple glasses of water) after my neighbors received the hand-delivered bright orange notice from Fayette County Water System.
I contacted Mr. Lee Pope directly to discuss the circumstances under which my house was missed while other residents received timely notification.
Mr. Pope admitted that it was an unfortunate mistake and the water system is working on more efficient ways of communication.
He also assured me that when the water was safe for consumption, I would receive an all clear notice, again hand-delivered.
As I returned home this afternoon, I noticed that my neighbors surrounding me all had notices attached to their doors informing them that the water was safe to drink.
Unfortunately, there was no such notice from Fayette County Water System on my door.
Water that smelled like potting soil within the past year: unappealing and gross. Water that needed to be boiled and wasn’t: potentially hazardous. Shoddy communication from Fayette County Water System: completely unacceptable.
I wonder how my water bill always arrives in a timely fashion …
Again, I appreciate The Citizen’s timely reporting on matters of importance.
