The Fayette County Branch of the NAACP in partnership with the Fayette County Board of Education will present the 14th annual parade and subsequent 14th annual commemorative program in celebration of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. birthday holiday today.
The keynote speaker is JCarolyn Maull McKinstry.
The Fayette County Branch invites the community; churches, fraternities, sororities, organizations and businesses to participate in the parade and program. Parade participants can secure a parade entry form or register online by accessing the branch’s website, www.fcnaacp.org.Pre-parade breakfast items will be available for a nominal fee from 8:45-10 a.m. in the Fayette County High School Parking Lot and the LaFayette Education Bldg D. The parade will start from the Fayette County High School parking lot at 10 a.m. and subsequent commemorative program will begin at 11:45 am in F. A. Sams Auditorium, 205 LaFayette Drive, Fayetteville. Post program events are tentatively scheduled and will be announced on the day of the event.

The Friends of the Library book sale is today from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Fayette County Public Library. Fayetteville. Over 9,000 gently-read books will be available for purchase. Prices range from $.25 for most children’s books to $5 for books by the latest best-selling authors. More than 25 different categories of books will be available and a separate group of tables will be set up for older classics and collectables. All proceeds go to the library for a number of activities including Baby Time, Sing and Play with Stories and Fayette Kids Read. Donations are accepted at the Library anytime. Pancake Saturday is coming! Join the Kiwanis Club of Peachtree City today from 7 a.m. to 1p.m., at the McIntosh High School Cafeteria for all the pancakes you can eat.
