It’s safe to say that no other New Year’s reveler in Fayette County rung in 2014 quite like Irani Ramos did at Piedmont Fayette Hospital.
Just over an hour after everyone clinked glasses — and perhaps gave a smooch to the love of their life — Ramos was delivering a love of her own: baby boy Ethan Damien Ramos. Ethan was also welcomed into the world by his dad, Jose Huizar, and the family makes their home in Jonesboro.
At 1:04 a.m. Wednesday, Ethan became the first baby born on metro Atlanta’s southside, according to hospital spokesperson Debbie Britt. Delivered by Dr. Khadeja Haye, Ethan was actually a little later than expected and, as it turned out, a bit too late to be the first baby in metro Atlanta.
In addition to being the first baby on the southside, Ethan was also the first baby born among the five hospitals in the Piedmont Healthcare System. Ethan received a $500 savings account courtesy of Delta Community Credit Union, just like all the other “New Year’s babies” at other Piedmont hospitals, Britt said.
The family also received special gifts from Edible Arrangements and Chick-fil-A too, Britt said.
