Above, hosts and volunteers get ready for the 7th Annual Chair-ity Event in early December. The event was held at The Dolce in Peachtree City. For the seventh year in a row, community leaders, local artists and volunteers hosted the popular Chair-ity event benefitting the abandoned and abused children who live in the cottages at The Children’s Village at Christian City. Nearly $80,000 was raised through 57 corporate financial sponsorships, a silent auction of in-kind gifts donated by 68 local businesses, and unique chairs painted by 24 talented artists from all over the metro Atlanta area. The Rick Massengale Jazz Trio provided holiday entertainment, Bob Ross provided photography, and Patty Brown served as the master of ceremonies. With the support of the community, The Children’s Village has been caring for children needing out of home placement since Valentine’s Day, 1965. The Children’s Village is also a resource for runaway and homeless teens, helping to get them safely off the streets through Project Safe Place. For more information on these programs and how you can donate or get involved, please visit christiancity.org or call Heidi Becker, director of development, at 770-703-2636. Photo/Special.
