Shots from a moving vehicle rang out as a party was breaking up in the early morning hours Sunday off New Hope Road in north Fayette County, and one man was wounded in the leg, according to Fayette County Sheriff Barry Babb.

The leg wound was not life-threatening to the 20-year-old male, Babb said.

The Saturday night party on Victor Lane was attended by people in their late teens and 20s and was breaking up at approximately 3:25 a.m. when an altercation ensued, Babb said.

Some of the people were leaving and another group was staying at the residence, the sheriff said.

As the group leaving the party exited in their vehicle, several shots were fired from that vehicle into the front yard, said Babb. No one else was hit.

Though other residences are nearby, Babb said there were no complaints of a disturbance while the party was ongoing.

Babb said the party had been advertised on a social networking website.
