The campus will be located on the property of the old Newnan Hospital located at 80 Jackson Street near downtown. The $21 million construction project is expected to produce an annual economic impact of $1.4-3.4 million.

The project will result in 51,000 square feet of instructional space as well as 31,000 square feet of warm-shell space and the construction of new a 120-seat lecture hall, said city spokesperson Gina Snider.

“The Newnan Hospital Redevelopment Project is a partnership between the City of Newnan, Newnan Hospital, Coweta County, the University of West Georgia and the University System of Georgia/Board of Regents and involves the acquisition and redevelopment of the historic Newnan Hospital on Jackson Street for use by the University of West Georgia to expand and enhance their curriculum offerings,” Snider said.

Snider said the Newnan Hospital Redevelopment Project is designed to be a catalytic project that will improve the overall business climate of the downtown district.

“Retail, restaurant, service and professional as well as financial institutions and all other providers of goods and services within the local trade area will benefit from the project,” Snider said.
