In addition to voting on the proposed countywide infrastructure sales tax this November, residents of unincorporated Fayette County will also weigh in on Sunday sales of alcohol for on-premises consumption.
Last year, voters approved Sunday package sales of alcohol for the county. But on-premises alcohol sales for consumption was not part of that referendum, interim County Attorney Dennis Davenport informed the Fayette County Commission Thursday night.
Davenport said the county ultimately issued several Sunday alcohol consumption licenses in error because without a positive vote in a referendum, the county lacks authority in the matter.
At Davenport’s request, the commission authorized a resolution to put the referendum on the special election ballot for November. The authorization was unanimous.
