Mrs. Mary Ruth Hanson, age 74 of Brooks, passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at the Fayette Community Hospital.
Mrs. Hanson was born July 30, 1938 in Brooks to the late Wilson Haynes and the late Leola Dingler Haynes. She was a member of Brooks United Methodist Church. She retired from the City of Brooks where she served as City Clerk for over 20 years and served on Brooks City Counsel a number of years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Hanson.
Survivors include sons & daughters-in-law, Mike & Amy Hanson, Bill & Amber Hanson and John Hanson all of Brooks; step-daughters, Kay Glover of Newnan, Kathy Proctor of Palmetto; grandchildren, Ashley Hanson, Meagan Hanson, Jonathan Smith, Christopher Hanson, Maryn Hanson, James Beaupry, Jeremy Hanson, Ronni Walden, Kayden Hanson, aunt, Emily Dingler and cousins, Bill Dingler, Jim Dingler and Gerald Woolsey.
Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Ruth Hanson were held Thursday, March 14, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. at Brooks United Methodist Church. Rev. Steve Schofield and Rev. Sheila Crowe officiated. Interment followed in Brooks Memory Gardens. Friends visited the family on Wednesday, March 13, 2013 from 6 – 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
