Philip John Lewandowski, of Senoia, Ga. passed away on Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013.
He was born in Toledo, Ohio on April 24, 1946.
Philip graduated from Anthony Wayne High School in 1964 and from the University of Toledo in 1969 with a BA Degree in Statistics with Engineering background and was captain of the golf team his senior year.
Philip served in the US Army in 1970 & 1971 as Physical Activity Specialist, Special Services and was assigned to Korea in 1971 as a Golf Pro to Ltd. General Edward Rowny. He worked for Owens-Illinois Glass Company in Toledo, Bridgeton, N.J., and then in Atlanta, Ga. He also worked for Anchor Glass Company and, later as an Engineering consultant, to both, in glass bottle labeling.
Philip was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Peachtree City, Ga. His other interest included working on houses, golf, & restoration of his 1889 Senoia, Ga. home. On September 21, 2011 Philip was blessed with a kidney and liver transplant at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta.
Philip is survived by his wife of 43 years, Joyce of Senoia, Ga.; son, Steven Lewandowski of Decatur, Ga.; daughter, Lori Lewandowski of Atlanta, Ga.; sister, Mary E. Krause of Arlington Heights, Ill.; niece, Sarah Krause Hillyer; and nephews, John Krause and Patrick Krause of the Chicago, Ill. area.
He was preceded in death by his father, John J Lewandowski and his mother, Helen E. Lewandowski of Toledo, Ohio.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, Feb. 14, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Peachtree City, Ga. with Father John Murphy officiating, celebrant & military honors with taps.
