Birthday Party for Jesus is Dec. 15
The United Methodist Men of Peachtree City United Methodist Church invites families in the community to bring their children from toddlers up to fifth graders to celebrate a “Birthday Party for Jesus” on Saturday, Dec. 15 at 2 p.m. Activities include singing, face painting, crafts, refreshments and a special visit from the North Pole. The event will serve as a collection place for Toys for Tots; bring a new, unwrapped toy as a donation. Admission is free. The party will be held in the PTCUMC Children and Youth Center at 400 Windgate Rd. COS to present Christmas pageant Sunday
The Christian Education ministry at Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church in Peachtree City will celebrate a special Christmas liturgy/pageant at 9:40 a.m. on Dec. 16 in the Fellowship Hall. Children will take part in portraying characters of the Christmas story. All are welcome.
Providence’s Jubilee service will feature Todd Little’s art
The community is invited to the last Jubilee Service of 2012 at Providence United Methodist Church this Sunday, Dec. 16.
Senior pastor Warren Huddleston explains, “The year 2012 has been the year of Jubilee at Providence. Once each quarter we’ve had a special celebration of one continuous service from 9 a.m.-noon when people can come and go as they feel led to worship. These services have been very well received so we’re looking forward to closing out our Jubilee Year with another special Sunday.”
The Connection Café is open throughout the morning serving free coffee, tea or hot chocolate.
This Sunday’s Jubilee Service includes worship painting by Starr’s Mill High School art teacher and Providence member, Todd Little, during the 9-10 a.m. hour. Little starts with a blank black canvas and uses his hands and cans of paint to create a picture while the a full band plays praise music.
Worship coordinator Dianne DeVane says, “We have several pieces of Todd’s artwork hung throughout the church — it’s always a special treat when he paints during worship and an amazing talent to watch.”
During the 10-11a.m. hour there will be a festive service of Christmas carols with choir, handbells and orchestra.
Providence has a confirmation class of 52 students, many of whom will be confirmed during the last hour of the morning.
There will also be testimonies by members of the Providence church family during the morning.

NHBC will present Vivaldi’s ‘Gloria’
National Heights Baptist Church’s Sanctuary Choir and Friends will present Vivaldi’s “Gloria” on Sunday, Dec. 16 at 6 p.m. This special Christmas musical presentation will include a full chorus and soloist with organ accompaniment, and will be followed by a reception in the fellowship hall for all worshipers. Nearly 200 Nativity scenes on display at Brooks UMC
Brooks United Methodist Church will celebrate Christmas with a new event this year, “Celebrate Nativity.”
Nearly 200 Nativity scenes will be on display Thursday Dec. 13, from 5-8 p.m. and Sunday Dec. 16 from 2-5 p.m.
Visitors are invited to walk through the church and see the Nativity scenes on display at their own pace, taking time to explore each one’s unique presentation of the birth of Christ.
“It is amazing to see all the different artists interpretation of the Nativity,” said the Rev. Sheila Crowe, senior pastor of Brooks. “We have some from all over the world — Uganda, Guatemala, Africa, Mexico, Germany, Israel and many other countries. They are dressed in native American clothing, Eskimo parkas, native tribal costumes, and Japanese kimonos to name a few. They are absolutely beautiful and remind us that Christmas and the coming of Christ is for all people. The
Nativity helps all of us to appreciate and enjoy the Christmas season more.”

FFUMC will host candlelight Christmas concert Dec. 16
Fayetteville First United Methodist Church (FFUMC) will host a Candlelight Concert on Sunday, Dec.16, at 6:30 p.m.
This year marks the 13th performance of the free Candlelight Concert featuring violinist Sonja Squires and pianist Rick Massengale and soloists Anne Michelle Plummer and Ken White.
“This is the highlight of my musical year,” said Rick Massengale, music director. “To think we started so small in the chapel and to have seen it grow over the years to what we now have is exciting. It’s a thrill to work with so many great musicians and vocalists and then to be able to offer a concert to the community. To see the way the community has responded to our concert is very gratifying.”
All proceeds from the event will benefit Smart Lunch, Smart Kid and Stop Hunger Now.

Holy Trinity to host Advent Mission
Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Peachtree City will host its Advent Mission Dec. 17-19 at 7 p.m. nightly, featuring Fr. Kevin McDonald, C. Ss. R. from Woburn, Mass. and Padre Thomas Martin Deely, C.Ss. R. of Pittsburgh, Pa. McDonald presently is assigned to the Redemptorist Community in St. Croix, Virgin Islands. Deely currently works for Reaping the Harvest, a ministry dedicated to migrant workers in Esopus, N.Y. There will be childcare and a community social each night. Holy Trinity is on the corner of Ga. ‘Joy of Christmas’ to be presented at Line Creek Bapt.
Word to Life Ministries will present “The Joy of Christmas” Saturday, Dec. 15, at 7 p.m. at Line Creek Baptist Church, 1488 Bob Smith Rd., Sharpsburg.
The contemporary drama was created, written and produced by members of Word to Life Ministries.
There is no charge and the public is invited.

PTCUMC will offer study on Nehemiah
“Nehemiah: A Heart That Can Break,” by Kelly Minter is a seven-session Bible study for women which will begin on Jan. 9, 2013 at Peachtree City United Methodist Church, 225 Robinson Road in Peachtree City.
The group will meet every Wednesday morning from 9:30 – 11:30 a.m.
The group facilitator is Andrea Sisler and the cost is $16.
Nehemiah also includes seven video sessions.
