As Christmas gets ever closer, organizers are ramping up collections for this year’s Toys For Tots campaign.

In addition to a myriad of local businesses that will be collecting new, unwrapped toys, citizens can also drop them off at any Fayette County Fire Station, Peachtree City Hall, Kedron Fieldhouse and the Peachtree City Library.

Last year the campaign provided toys for more than 5,000 children in Fayette and Coweta counties. This year’s need will likely be higher, organizers have said.

There is a great demand for girl’s toys this year, according to Fayette County fire officials. Last year county fire stations collected more than 400 toys for the effort.

Organizers of a local car show are also planning to help. The car show at Restorod Collision north of Fayetteville is charging an unwrapped toy as its entry fee. The show is slated for Saturday, Dec. 15 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

And as every year, the Gaddy family’s Christmas Light display on Sandy Creek Road will also be collecting for the Toys for Tots campaign on Friday, Nov. 30.

Volunteers, both individuals and organizations, are also being sought by the local Toys for Tots campaign to help collect and sort toys, host events, raise donations and serve as toy drop-off sites. To help, register at www.Fayettetoysfortots.com or email questions to [email protected].
