An Oct. 29 lookout for a stolen vehicle ended with Peachtree City Police searching for the driver after he abandoned the car on Ga. Highway 74 near the Baseball/Soccer Complex. Thirty-six-year-old Tony Perry is on the loose and considered dangerous.
Peachtree City Police spokesman Mark Brown said officers at approximately 5:20 p.m. Monday afternoon received a dispatch relating to a Fayette County vehicle stolen from the Quick Trip store in Fayetteville. Brown said officers subsequently spotted the vehicle matching the description at Hwy. 74 and Holly Grove Road. Brown said the vehicle fled northbound on Hwy. 74 as officers attempted to make contact with it.
Brown said that upon reaching the area of the Federal Aviation Administration office on Hwy. 74, Perry pulled into the southbound lanes of Hwy. 74 and continued northbound for approximately one-eighth of a mile. Perry then abandoned the vehicle and fled into a line of trees.
The Hwy. 74 Baseball/Soccer Complex was evacuated during the search, Brown said. A perimeter was immediately established by Peachtree City Police and Fayette County Sheriff’s deputies as well as the Peachtree City Police K-9 tracking team. After a lengthy search Perry could not be located, Brown said.
Perry is described as a white male, 6 feet tall and weighing 230 pounds. He was last scene wearing a black shirt and black pants. Perry is wanted in several jurisdictions including Coweta County, Henry County, Clayton County, Fayette County, and Peachtree City for numerous felony charges, including obstruction, theft by taking motor vehicle, and fleeing and attempting to elude. Perry is considered to be dangerous, said Brown.
