Residents of Fayette and Coweta counties took time Friday morning to observe National POW/MIA Recognition Day at the Peachtree City Veterans Memorial. Salutes by members of American Legion Post 50, VFW Post 9949, the Marine Corps League and a host of others followed the placement of the wreath at the conclusion of the ceremony. Post 9949 Commander Stony Lohr in his remarks said, “We are here to remember those who fought for this country and never came home. For their families there is little or no closure.” From World War II until today, there are a total of 83,414 soldiers still missing in action. Photo/Ben Nelms.
