The Summit Family YMCA will be hosting a Back to School Jamboree on Friday, August 3 from 6-8:30 p.m. The event is open to the community and no registration is required.

The jamboree will feature an abundance of activities for children of all ages. A live DJ will provide entertainment while children are welcome to bounce on inflatables and climb the outdoor rock wall. The Summit Y is also opening up their pool to the public for games and swimming, so make sure you bring a swimsuit and a towel. In addition to the games and activities that the Y is offering, there will be a family friendly movie shown at 6:30 p.m. and popcorn will be provided.

The jamboree also includes vendors from around the community that provide services that are helpful to parents throughout the school year such as Musicology, the Boy Scouts of America, the Girl Scouts of America, and BJs. Championship Martial Arts will be at the event giving demos of their services as well. The United States Army as well as the United States Navy will have representatives at the event with simulations for the kids.

As a public service, the Y has invited American Income Life to the event and they will be creating free child safety kits for those interested. Additionally, car seat safety checks will be provided. .

In addition to providing lots of fun things for the kids to enjoy before school starts in Coweta County on August 6, local restaurants have teamed up to provide food for the event. Bruster’s will be offering free ice cream, and Nathan’s will be at the event to provide their world famous hot dogs and chips for a small fee.

This is the second annual jamboree that the Summit Family YMCA has held. Last year’s event provided a night of fun to an estimated 400 families from around the community. The goal of the event is not only to provide a fun time for families before school starts but also to provide school supplies for the children in the form of door prizes and goody bags. This is one of many events during the year where the Summit opens their doors to the community. Families are encouraged to attend the Back to School Jamboree and see what makes the Summit Family YMCA unique in our community.
