Thank you for the outstanding letter from Timothy Parker regarding Republicans and Christians and the poor. I’m sure you will receive more than a little criticism for printing this article.
The piece asked the question my husband has asked me many times since becoming a U.S. citizen 20 years ago. He is fiscally conservative and a social moderate, but could never be a Republican or fundamentalist Christian because of their mindless, unjustifiable support for big business and harsh heartlessness toward the poor.
Thank you again for presenting another view on the subject. I hope your readers thought carefully about Mr. Parker’s words.
I’ll plan to keep reading The Citizen as long as you are giving a fair shake to differing opinions.
