A Palmetto woman, her boyfriend and her daughter have been charged in a July 21 incident where the woman’s 13-month grandson ingested an unknown quantity of crack cocaine at her home.

Palmetto Police Sgt. Lee Gragg earlier in the week said 34 year-old Ebony Daniel, the child’s grandmother, and her 22 year-old boyfriend Charlie Martin, both of Palmetto, turned themselves in Tuesday on charges of cocaine possession, first degree cruelty to children and reckless conduct.

The child’s mother, 17 year-old Andrica Daniel, of Newnan, turned herself in on Wednesday. Andrica Daniel also faces charges of cocaine possession, first degree cruelty to children and reckless conduct, according to reports.

The 13 month-old child was believed to have ingested an unknown amount of crack cocaine while at Ebony Daniel’s Palmetto residence. Ebony Daniel, Charlie Martin and Andrica Daniel were in the home at the time of the incident, according to reports.

Gragg said Palmetto Police on July 21 received a call from Piedmont Newnan Hospital pertaining to a 13 month-old child believed to have ingested an unknown amount of crack cocaine. Officers were dispatched to the hospital to begin the preliminary investigation on the case, said Gragg.

The child was transferred to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and was treated for the ingestion after tests indicated that he had consumed an unknown quantity of cocaine, Gragg said. The child stayed in the hospital for two days and was released after medical care was provided to him, Gragg added.

Gragg said the incident occurred at the Elm Street residence of Ebony Daniel and Charlie Martin. The investigation revealed that the cocaine was in an open area of the home sitting on a table when the child grabbed it and ingested an unknown amount, said Gragg.

The child’s mother subsequently took the 13 month-old to Piedmont Newnan Hospital.

A search warrant was obtained by the police department and it was executed on the home. The police did recover evidence in the case during the search of the home, Gragg said.

All three are being held on $30,000 bond, according to reports.

The 13 month-old is currently in state custody, according to reports.
