Matt Holland of Senoia, 40, lost his courageous battle with pancreatic cancer on July 25, 2012.

Matt was preceded in death by his grandparents, Sabie Herring-Holland and Dilbert Holland; grandparents Larry and Josephine Lane; and his father Larry Joe Holland (Pat).

He is survived by his wife Cindy; his daughter Leah Grace; brother Tim (Laura) Holland; sister Brenda (Kyle) Holland-Goltz; sister Brandy Holland; and nephew Joey Holland. Matt is also survived by many special great- aunts, aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws, nieces, nephews, friends and step-siblings that have helped to shape him into the great man, loving husband and devoted father that he will be remembered as by everyone who knew him.

Matt was a handyman by trade and known for his easy going nature and drive for perfection. He was fondly known as “Meticulous Matt.” While working for people he not only impressed them with his fine craftsmanship, but also won their hearts with his loving nature and easy going personality. Matt was an avid Braves fan, but his true love was spending his evenings with Leah, playing soccer, baseball or just watching her play.

The family would like to offer a sincere thank you to the many doctors and nurses that helped Matt to climb his mountain. Thank you to the following: Dr. Harrison Pollinger, the nurses on the transplant unit at Piedmont Atlanta Hospital, Dr. Feinstein and staff, and Dr.Nowlan and staff. We would also like to thank Nurse Pam and all the angels from Brightmoor Hospice for all their love, faith and support. Thank you also to our family members and friends who have embraced us during this journey.

A memorial service will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, July 28, 2012 at Legacy Christian Church, 1150 Rockaway Road, Senoia, Ga. Reverend Barbara Sterling and Reverend Marlene Slaton will be presiding. Visitation with the family will follow the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family has set up a “Matt Holland Memorial Fund” at Wells Fargo Bank.
