Volunteer for animals

Now that school is out, you may find yourself with time on your hands. Maybe you’d planned to work, but couldn’t find a job. Why not explore volunteer opportunities with a local charity?

Many nonprofits are always looking for volunteers and can provide you with satisfying work to fit your schedule and interests. Volunteering is a great way to make contacts and connect with the community.

For example, the Fayette County Humane Society (FCHS), a 501(c)(3) animal rescue group, needs volunteers to work adoptions Saturday and Sunday afternoons at the Peachtree City PetSmart.

Since FCHS does not have a shelter, we also need loving families to provide foster care for homeless cats, kittens, puppies, and dogs.

Have a valid driver’s license? FCHS needs volunteers to transport foster pets to and from adoptions and veterinary appointments.

Allergic to animals? FCHS needs volunteers for administrative duties such as returning phone calls, handling correspondence, scheduling volunteers and events, and organizing fundraisers.

A 90-minute training session is provided. For more information about volunteer opportunities with FCHS, visit our website at www.fayettehumane.org, or call 770-487-1073.
