Hannah Elizabeth Pope and John Samuel Beck were united in marriage on Saturday, May 19, 2012. Dr. Chuck Hodges officiated the ceremony at First United Methodist Church, Athens, Ga.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Cleveland Pope of Fayetteville, Ga. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Minson Pope of Clinton, N.C. and the late Mr. and Mrs. Willis Goodwin Barrett of Sanford, N.C.
The bride is a 2006 and 2009 graduate of the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education and a Master’s in Educational Administration and Policy.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Danny Hoyt Beck of Fayetteville, Ga. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Hoyt Samuel Beck and the late Mr. and Mrs. John Roger Weldon, all of Hapeville, Ga.
The groom is a 2007 graduate of the University of Georgia and a 2010 graduate of the University of South Carolina School of Law. He is an associate with Slepian, Schwartz, and Landgaard in Peachtree City, Ga.
The bride was escorted by her father and presented in marriage by her parents. She wore a trumpet styled gown of ivory satin with a sweetheart neckline, hand-beaded alencon lace dropped waist bodice and matching beaded lace at hemline flowing into a semi-cathedral train. The gown was accented with a champagne silk sash at the waistline.
The bride wore her mother’s cathedral length veil of silk illusion accented with alencon lace attached to a comb of freshwater pearls and crystals. She carried a bouquet of roses, peonies, gardenias, and stephanotis.
Kathryn Wingate Pope of Sydney, Australia, Stuart MacKenzie Pope of Lexington, Ky., and Anne Barrett Pope of Fayetteville, Ga., sisters of the bride, were the Maids of Honor. Bridesmaids were Joanna Rae Beck of Athens, Ga., sister of the groom; Melissa Bond Pennington of Jefferson, Ga.; Frances Elizabeth Gay of Athens, Ga.; Whitney Lynn Thompson of Fayetteville, Ga.; and Britney Nicole Littleton of Maryville, Tenn. Piper McCall Pennington of Jefferson, Ga. was the flower girl.
Bryan Christopher Johnson, of Augusta, Ga. was best man. Groomsmen were Andrew Todd Collins of Scottsdale, Ariz.; Jay Bryant Page of Las Vegas, Nev.; Ryan Douglas Wolfe of Atlanta, Ga.; Billy Eric Pennington of Jefferson, Ga.; Tyler Andrew Gattermeyer of Tampa, Fla.; Ronald Wesley Jones of Athens, Ga.; and Jesse Ryan Oates of Columbia, S.C. Carter Brooks Pennington of Jefferson, Ga. was the ring bearer.
Musicians were Janis Maxwell, organist; Dr. Brandon Craswell, trumpeter; and Callie Waller, soloist. The wedding was directed by Susan H. Greer, and Natalie J. Overman was the wedding planner.
A reception was held immediately following the ceremony at The Taylor-Grady House in Athens.
The couple honeymooned in Antigua, and now reside in Senoia, Ga.
