Members of Fayette Presbyterian Church held their sixth annual Spring Fling on April 28 in the gazebo and fountain area of the Fayetteville Town Square.
More than 400 people enjoyed the barbecue as well as hot dogs “hot” off the grill and all the side dish fixings, popcorn and beverages. Also, outside vendors provided shaved flavored ice and soft yogurt ice cream. The FPC Presbytery Women’s Organization, provided a bake sale of everything from cakes and pies, to brownies and cup cakes. The church’s Praise Band provided music.
There was plenty to do and see from carnival games to horseback rides. The horse, “Chess,” was brought over by The Calvin Center in Hampton.The horse was such a big hit that next year Fayette Presbyterian is thinking of procuring two horses. The horses are also used by The Calvin Center for “Horses for Wounded Warriors.”
In addition, there were drawings for $5, $10, $15, $20, and $25 gift cards for Wal-Mart, Target, Kroger and other local Fayetteville retailers.
Represented at the Spring Fling were groups such as, The Wounded Warriors, Fayette Samaritans, Relay for Life, Fayette Humane Society, Square Foot Ministry, and the Korean Presbyterian Church of Georgia. Each organization had a booth to provide its outreach to the community and to tell how they support “people in need.” One gentlemen attendee was found to be living homeless in Fayetteville. His needs were soon met and he is now seeking employment and is no longer homeless..
In addition, Fayette Presbyterian Church had its own booths for various programs the church provides, including missions, evangelism, worship, and its youth group.
Many children attending enrolled in the FPC Vacation Bible School.
FPC members say they look forward to an even larger more exciting event planned for next year.
