Sean and Andi McGee of Newnan were honored at the Cathedral of Christ the King in Sharpsburg, with Bishop David Epps, pastor of the church and bishop of the Diocese of the Mid-South, declaring June 3 to be “Sean and Andi McGee Day” at the church.
The McGees have been active in Christ the King for nearly all of the church’s 16 year history and the McGees’ oldest son, Tristan, was the first person baptized at the church.
Tristan, now 16, missed the event as he was on a youth mission trip to the nation of India.
Sean McGee, Epps noted in the proclamation, served the church as a musician, singer, technical advisor, and worship leader. He was, in fact, the first person in the diocese to be installed as a commissioned minister in music and worship.
Mrs. McGee was recognized as serving as a audio technician. She also was instrumental in encouraging several of the women in the church to take up running and some have entered marathons or half marathons.
In a reflective moment, Epps remembered that he had known Sean since he was about six years old, prayed for him when he was in the Navy, had married Sean and Andi, and had baptized all their children.
Rainee Head, a video and projection technician at the church prepared a four and a half minute slide presentation that proceeded the proclamation.
