The board of directors and members of the Olivet Church are planning a celebration spanning five days, culminating in the installation service of their new pastor, the Rev. Dr. William Holmes Robinson. The installation service will be held at The Olivet Church on Sunday, May 20, at 5 p.m. Pre-installation celebrations begin May 16.
Robinson is the former pastor of Second Mt. Vernon Baptist Church in Atlanta. He replaces the late Dr. Howard Creecy Jr. He is a graduate of Morehouse College who received his doctorate degree from Interdenominational Theological Center in Atlanta. His sermon, “The Great Moses Debate,” was featured in the fall 2000 edition of African-American Pulpit Journal published by Judson Press. He is also featured in the 2005/2006 edition of Who’s Who of Black Atlanta.
The community is invited to celebrate with the congregation during the installation week services which will follow the theme, “Honoring the Legacy and Moving on the Pathway Forward.”
The pre-installation service will be Wednesday, May 16, at 6:30 p.m. at Olivet. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Charles Nesbitt Jr. of Providence Baptist Church in College Park.
The Gala Installation Banquet will be Friday, May 18, at 7 p.m. at the Westin Airport Hotel. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Dr. Maurice Watson of Beulahland Baptist Church in Macon.
On Sunday, May 20, at 8 a.m., the guest speaker at Olivet will be the Rev. Stephen John Thurston of New Covenant Missionary Baptist Church in Chicago, Ill.The same day at 11 a.m., the guest speaker will be the Rev. Donald Parson of Logos Baptist Assembly in Chicago.
The Pastoral Installation Service will be at 5 p.m. that afternoon at The Olivet Church. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Jasper Williams Jr. of Salem Bible Church in Atlanta.
