For four weekends only, five talented and zany nuns will sing, dance and act their way on to the stage as the smash-hit musical comedy, “Nunsense,” debuts at The Legacy Theatre in Tyrone.

“Nunsense” opened in New York in 1985 and is the second-longest-running Off-Broadway show in history (second only to “The Fantasticks”).  It has won four Outer Critics Circle Awards, including Best Off-Broadway Musical, been produced more than 5,000 times worldwide, and has been translated into 21 languages. Filled with witty songs, hilarious audience participation, and high-energy dance numbers, “Nunsense” is the perfect evening out for audiences of all ages.

“Nunsense” begins when the Little Sisters of Hoboken discover that their cook, Sister Julia, Child of God, has accidentally poisoned 52 of the sisters and they are in dire need of funds for the burials.  The sisters decide that the best way to raise the money is to put on a variety show, so they travel to Georgia and take over The Legacy Theatre. Audiences will meet Reverend Mother Regina, a former circus performer, (played by Nancy Riggs); Sister Mary Hubert, the Mistress of the Novices (Fracena Byrd); a streetwise nun from Brooklyn named Sister Robert Anne (Eliana Marianes); Sister Mary Leo, a novice who is a wannabe ballerina (Alexandra Duncan); and the delightfully wacky Sister Mary Amnesia, the nun who lost here memory when a crucifix fell on her head (Mandy Mitchell).

Featuring star turns, tap and ballet dancing, an audience quiz, a live band, and comic surprises, you will not want to miss this top-notch group of professional Atlanta performers as they prove to you why “ ‘Nunsense’ is habit-forming!”

“Nunsense” performs April 13-May 6; Fridays at 8 p.m.; Saturdays at 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m.  For tickets call the Legacy box office at 404-895-1473 or go online at www.thelegacytheatre.org.
