I am not sure if The Citizen remembers that last fall the Peachtree City Council held some meetings to discuss passing a bond to raise funds to repair the public facilities. The bond was supposed take care of resurfacing of all the public tennis courts.
We are halfway through the PTC fiscal year and only two courts have been fixed.
When I inquired about the other 10 courts I am told by department managers that there are no funds for repairing the other 10 public courts.
I have sent an email to the mayor and all of the council members asking what happened to the bond money we were supposed to have.
I received absolutely no reply from these elected officials.
Since the PTC Council feels it has no need to respond to an ordinary citizen, perhaps The Citizen newspaper can inquire about what happened to the bond money we were supposed to have.
Also a good question to ask would be why two tennis courts that were playable were resurfaced while the courts at Braelinn and Smokerise are locked because play on them would be unsafe.
Another question would be why the courts at Glenloch, that receive the greatest amount of play, go year after year without any attention from the city.
When I moved to PTC 26 years ago the facilities were good and I did not mind paying the extra tax fees to have use of the facilities.
However, in the last five years, I have witnessed a steady decline with the PTC infrastructure. I place the blame on the elected officials that sit on the council for poor management.
