‘Mr. Presberg, what do you believe?’

Mr. Presberg, your important position as a public servant and chairman of the Fayette County Board of Education recently prompted me to organize a public question & answer forum for Fayette County voters and taxpayers to meet with you.

This forum was held at the Peachtree City Library last Tuesday evening and I thank you for attending.

Unfortunately, my objective for the meeting — to learn more about your core beliefs and how they will impact the future direction of Fayette County’s education system — was not successful.

First, the meeting got off to a bad start when I discovered that a Peachtree City police officer was present, at your request, to provide you protection.

Second, I was dismayed when told by a very large group of your supporters that they were there to prevent anything bad from happening to you.

I knew then that my intentions for the meeting would likely not be successful.

At the end of the meeting I announced to you and your advocates that I was not pleased by your continued reluctance to answer our specific questions and concerns.

Therefore, I will again publicly restate my opening remarks from the forum and ask for your response:

“Mr. Presberg it has been reported that you have worldview secular beliefs that could be considered non-mainstream or unusual when compared the Fayette County demographic of being predominately conservative, Republican and faith-based. It was further reported that you are a follower of a Free Thought Society that espouses controversial viewpoints on how we should conduct our lives and interact in society.

“Would you please respond to these reports and share with Fayette County voters and taxpayers a clear indication of your values and core beliefs and how they may impact your position with the Board of Education and its future direction?”
