Peeples Elementary School is currently accepting recycled cell phones to help with a project to save gorillas.

Gorilla forest homes in Congo are being destroyed  due to the mining of coltan. Coltan is a small substance that is found in cell phones and other small electronic games.

So far, the students at Peeples Elementary have collected over 180 cell phones.

These collected phones will be fixed and resold to first time users outside of the United States, some will be given to charities, and those that are no longer usable will be recycled.

Anyone can help save the gorillas by recycling your old cell phones. You may drop off your old cell phones at Peeples Elementary School before the end of March.

Peeples students are also competing in a contest through the Zoo Atlanta Call4Gorillas Partner Program.
