Due to the economy, the Fayette County Humane Society is receiving an increased number of requests from area residents to find homes for strays or pets that can no longer be maintained, usually cats and kittens but also dogs.  The organization holds pet adoptions at the Peachtree City Pet Smart every Saturday and Sunday afternoon.  The Fayette County Humane Society works with the County Animal Shelter but is a separate agency that receives no state funding.  The regular pet adoptions help to free up slots to house new animals waiting for a home.
