Freethought chairman now leads our schools

Cal Beverly is “spot on” in proposing that elected officials be forced to declare for a particular party (The Citizen, Jan. 11, 2012). May I also add listing membership in anti-American, secular organizations?

How many Fayette citizens are aware that [Fayette County Board of Education Chairman] Leonard Presberg is a member of the neopagan Freethought Society, whose goal is a secular society based on the doctrine of pantheism?

Freethought Society works to “fundamentally change America” (remember that phrase?) and the world by destroying all belief in the true God. Instead, they believe that anything and everything is god. Shall we worship the cockroach or poison ivy, perhaps?

The real tragedy of this insanity is that this man, as chairman of the Fayette County Board of Education, will control all aspects of the education of our children.

The principles of Christianity are written on every page of America’s history, from the founding of the colonies to the declaration of the Supreme Court which, in 1892, declared, “This is a Christian nation.”

The secularist’s (liberal) attacks on the Bill of Rights are destroying this moral foundation. The following facts are being systematically erased from the educational system:

The New England Confederation stated that the purpose of the colonies was “to advance the Kingdom of our Lord Jesus Christ …”

Harvard College required that each student believe that “the main end of his life and studies is to know God and Jesus Christ which is eternal life.”

John Adams wrote: “The Christian religion is … the Religion of Wisdom, Virtue, Equity, and humanity.” He also said, “Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people.”

In 1787 Congress passed the Northwest Ordinance in which they emphasized the need for schools to teach religion, morality and knowledge.

In George Washington’s farewell address he stated, “Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, religion and morality are indispensable …”

Benjamin Franklin’s fundamental religious beliefs which the founders often referred to as the “religion of America” were:

1. There exists a Creator who made all things and mankind should recognize and worship Him.

2. The Creator has revealed a moral code of behavior … which distinguishes right from wrong.

3. The Creator holds mankind responsible for their behavior.

4. All mankind lives beyond this life.

5. In the next life mankind are judged for their conduct in this one.

Thomas Jefferson called these “the principles in which God has united us all.”

Patrick Henry stated, “It cannot be emphasized too strongly or too often that this great nation was founded … on the Gospel of Jesus Christ.”

“In God We Trust” is our national motto, adopted because Christian men and women on Christian principles founded this nation. The divine source of right and wrong is God.

Decades of liberal (secular) assaults on traditional values and the constitution are destroying our nation; the most blatant being the fraudulent “wall of separation between church and state.”

The Founders did not set up a “wall of separation between church and state.” The First Amendment says nothing about a “separation of church and state.” It is a “hands off” amendment instructing Congress not to establish a “state religion” and not to make laws interfering with religious expression.

This “wall of separation between church and state” was erected by liberal (secular) unprincipled politicians, arrogant jurists and anti-God groups like Freethought.

As a member of Freethought, Mr. Presberg, along with comrades [Terri] Smith and [Janet] Smola, will use this church-state metaphor to further undermine the principles of the Founding Fathers. In view of the current Fayette County Board of Education, no sacrifice is too great to remove our children from government-run schools.

“If we ever forget that we’re one nation under God, then we will be a nation gone under.” — Ronald Reagan, 1984.
