Starting Saturday at 7 a.m., southbound traffic on Ga. Highway 74 north in Tyrone is expected to get a little tricky at the railroad crossing just south of Jenkins Road.
Railroad crossing maintenance will cut the southbound lanes to one, and at times southbound vehicles will be diverted to one of the northbound lanes, according to the Georgia Department of Transportation.
Weather permitting, the work will occur Saturday, Sunday and Monday from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. each day. That means commuters on Monday will be affected to some degree.
To alert motorists, the DOT will have traffic lights in the area put into flashing mode” and police will help guide motorists through the area when the southbound lanes are shifted to the northbound side of the road, officials said.
Message signs, barrels and cones will also be used to alert the public, according to DOT.
The railroad crossing maintenance work will be performed by a contractor.
